Day 23 of #Trust30 – Courage to Connect by David Spinks

Men imagine that they communicate their virtue or vice only by overt actions, and do not see that virtue or vice emit a breath every moment. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Who is one person that you’ve been dying to connect with, but just haven’t had the courage to reach out to? First, reflect on why you want to get in touch with them. Then, reach out and set up a meeting.

This whole Trust30 every day has me hooked.  It’s 11:45 central time and I just realized I hadn’t done this today….quickly…here goes….

Reaching out to people has never been difficult for me.

We’re all human.  We all breath the same way.  We all see the same stars.

I think to often people are intimidated by whoever it is they’re trying to reach out to.  Maybe that person has more money.  Or maybe they’re smarter than you.  Maybe you’ve had a bad experience with them and you’re trying to reconnect.  Maybe it’s a family member (you know we all have at least one of those kind of family members) that you haven’t spoke to in years.  Maybe it’s the annoying neighbor.

Start simple.  Just say hello.

You don’t have to get into the nitty gritty dirty details of whatever your purpose in reaching out is in the first sentence.

Say hello.

Maybe you don’t even come close to the reason you’re reaching out.

Say hello and remember…we’re all human.
